Conditioning Programs Built Around the Person

Individually designed, evidence-based, and delivered wherever works: gym, hydrotherapy pool, aged care facility, workplace or home.

Work Conditioning

Our exercise physiologists and physiotherapists assist injured workers to improve strength, flexibility, stability and functional conditioning through gymnasium-based exercise intervention. Exercises are developed around each individual's needs, specific injuries and job requirements.

Feedback is obtained from the treating allied health professionals (GPs, physiotherapists and specialists), so the program reinforces the clinical plan rather than running beside it. Where mobility or distance makes the gym impractical, treatment is facilitated in the home or the workplace.

The program suits musculoskeletal and neurological conditions including spinal disc injuries (including post-operative management), rotator cuff injuries, post-arthroscopy knees, mechanical lower back pain, overuse and repetitive strain injuries, and core strength development.

Built for

  • Spinal disc injuries, including post-operative
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Post-arthroscopy knee recovery
  • Mechanical lower back pain
  • Overuse and repetitive strain
  • Core strength development

Active Conditioning

General exercise physiology for general populations, chronic disease and illness, and aged care. Our university-qualified, ESSA-accredited exercise physiologists train regularly in current evidence-based practice.

Programs support musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain, chronic illness including diabetes, cancer and osteoporosis, psychological illness, general mobility and function in aged care, falls prevention (a recognised intervention for high-risk older people), and retraining after stroke or acquired brain injury.

Delivery is individual or group-based: our facilities, local gyms, aged care facilities or the home.

Program areas

  • Chronic disease management
  • Falls prevention
  • Stroke and brain injury retraining
  • Musculoskeletal and arthritis programs
  • Weight management and fitness
  • Aged care mobility, individual or group

Functional Assessments

Every program opens with a baseline: functional capacity assessed across everyday activities (walking, stairs) and job-specific tasks (lifting, carrying), with goals set for maximal functional improvement.

Progress is then re-measured against that baseline, so the worker, the employer, the insurer and the treating team see improvement in numbers rather than impressions.

What gets measured

  • Everyday capacity: walking, stairs
  • Job-specific tasks: lifting, carrying
  • Baseline and progress comparisons
  • Reported functional outcomes

Medicare CDM Referrals

A condition that has lasted, or is expected to last, at least six months may be eligible for Medicare assistance under the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) scheme.

With an approved CDM plan, patients can access up to five Medicare-rebatable exercise physiology sessions per calendar year. Your GP completes the plan and the allied health referral form; we take it from there. Terms and conditions apply, so ask us or your GP about your situation.

The pathway

  • Condition of six months or longer
  • GP completes the CDM plan
  • Allied health referral form
  • Up to five rebatable sessions a year
